I first met Paige while photographing another client’s birth, which she attended as a doula. Paige and her partner Surabhi have one older child, a boy, which Paige carried. So when they reached out to me to document Surabhi’s turn, I was thrilled. Surabhi labored for 35 hours to bring Akshay into this world. Watching her journey unfold was inspiring. She was mobile, walking and dancing through contractions. She got in the water when her body told her to and got out when she was done. She labored outside, she labored on the birth ball, she labored on her hands and knees. She rested when she felt compelled. She ate when she was hungry, laughed when she needed a release. Truly this is a strong and focused woman who was in tune with her body. She is also very loved. Her birth circle confirmed that, for they were all attentive, warm souls. Akshay is very fortunate to come into such a beautiful family.
