Today starts World Breastfeeding Week!  I decided to hop on the bandwagon with many of my fellow birth photographers, and try my hand at some breastfeeding sessions.  I really love how they turned out.  My baby is 6 now, so that phase seems so long ago.  But I enjoyed breastfeeding my children so much.  Especially since I always got off to such a rocky start with it.  In fact with #1 I gave up around 3 months.  We just couldn't sync up and I kept getting infections and plugged ducts.  However I breastfed longer and longer, and had fewer and fewer problems with each child.  The harder I tried...

As many of you know, I have a great passion for captivating children using their imaginations.  To me, there is nothing more beautiful than the sight of a child lost in the magic of their imagination.  It's one of the reasons I picked photography back up after high school... because I was having children and wanting to freeze those moments in time.   This excitement crosses over into other areas of my life, not surprisingly.  I am that mom that goes all out for birthday parties, Christmas, and other holidays.  I enjoy it.  I truly do.  This year Sasha and I have planned a fairy...

I tend to let the sharing "hub" of my work be my facebook page, and I gotta turn that around.  I just seem to get so much more interaction there and it's easy to post real quickly and be done.  But I am a natural born blogger.  I began back in January of 2006 , if you can believe it.  It was a personal blog that morphed into an inspirational blog, then a crafty blog.  Now that the photography biz is booming I have had to set that blog aside.  And I got lost in the shooting and editing and posting sneak peeks and reaping the rewards of immediate response to my work.  That doesn't do much...

  My cousin Jared got married last weekend!  We're lucky to live nearby so that I could drive up and photograph his special occasion.  It was also my first time meeting his bride, Becka, who is adorable by the way.  Almost our whole family was in attendance, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins... which was super fun. I got to visit with family and take pictures of this incredibly beautiful couple at the same time!   Congratulations Becka and Jared... My friend Kristen Duke is doing a fun new series encouraging Moms to get in front of the camera. And this weekend on my way to photograph my cousin's wedding in Dallas, I hit a small town called italy that had FIELDS of sunflowers. Just like in Tuscany. Sunflowers have always been a favorite of mine.  So you bet I pulled over! And gave my daughter a brief photography lesson! And posed gleefully for the camera! I met Hailey about 5 years ago.  She was 13.  THIRTEEN!  It’s crazy to think she is going off to college now. Undoubtedly one of my children's most favorite babysitters ever. Aside from having the magic touch with children, Hailey is smart, beautiful and classy. Did I mention classy? She's got a good head on her shoulders, this one. Met the President of the United States this year and is as humble as can be about it. Hailey plans to attend BYU in the Fall. She loves the colors yellow, turquoise and pink. And best of all? She makes everyone around her feel good with her radiant smile...
