I love a good creative session. Meilee mixed some traditional shots in with with some very fun fantasy-like shots for her senior session. I posted a couple on my facebook page and had a few people request that I blog the whole session (I don’t blog everything I shoot). Since we had so much fun and I have known her mother for years (and sadly they are moving – boo) I am sharing the rest here! Such a beautiful girl! Enjoy!!!

Another sweet babe was recently born in front of my camera! Lisa’s (the mama) story touched me so. She was due a year to the day after losing her sweet Hannah with rainbow baby {Henley}… rainbow is the term referring to a baby after a loss, in similarity to a rainbow appearing after a storm. Capturing such a moment of relief and joy was very important to her, and I was honored she selected me to be the person to do it! Enjoy the sweet story of a little blessing named Henley…

There once was a darling little family that lived in a darling little house that recently welcomed a darling little girl… This was just that kind of session. Oodles of cuteness all around! Mama contacted me shortly after the arrival of their baby girl and although it took a few weeks to get her in my schedule we managed to capture all the new baby goodness as well as some fun family photos. I just love how these turned out! Enjoy!

Oh I do love this girl. And we had such a fun session. Well, except for our cars getting broken into.:) But the location and the company was fabulous!

I’m excited to photograph Kim’s birth in July. Her youngest is 2 and when he was born I was just making my foray into birth photography. I was looking for people to practice on and she happened to be due within days or maybe weeks of my sis-in-law, who’s birth I was photographing. But that made me nervous. If only I knew then that I would eventually be booking 3-4 births in one month! My have things gotten busy around here. But I love it and I love these mamas!

I had a lot of fun photographing Kim’s belly. I haven’t done a lot of maternity, it’s just not asked of me very often, so it was nice to rekindle my love for the belly pics!

Welcome Rowen!

I had the pleasure of photographing this little bundle’s birth last month! Poor Fleur had quite a long journey to bring Rowen earthside. She had signs of early labor for days before her body really got going. So she was pretty worn out by the time Rowen was really ready to arrive. Joey and she held on to each other and got through her delivery beautifully and lovingly! It was an honor to be there as he announced the gender (which was a surprise). I recorded it and incorporated the special announcement into the slideshow for them. Gets me teary each time I watch (and listen)!

(I also kinda love Fleur’s OB. Get a load of the shot of him at 3:31. I need to know what he ate for breakfast! Hehe.)

It’s always extra special to photograph people you know really well. You know what to look for in their expressions, and everyone is really comfortable with you. Plus you may or may not get teary while you are editing their photos, because you love these people so much, and you know they are gonna love and truly appreciate their photos! The Brysons are one such family. I’ve gotten really close to the Mom and am so grateful for our friendship! They have beautiful girls, don’t they? And Jeremy – he’s alright. Haha! Actually a little plug for you Austinites – Dr. Bryson is my chiropractor and let me tell you he’s the best around. I’ve seen half a dozen or more in my life, so I think I’m a fair judge! Sigh. This mama and I have been friends for a long time. I met her when I was pregnant with my last child 7+ years ago. And she’s been cutting and coloring my hair since! I get asked all the time who does my hair, so this is not a shameless plug, she’s just so dang good. Anyway – back to photography. I had the privilege of photographing Monique and Justin’s engagement pictures and wedding pictures (See the wedding HERE). And we are on to births now. I love it! ENJOY these photos of a BEAUTIFUL mama and baby.

Oh what a treat this birth was. Lindsay contacted me just a few weeks before her “due date” to capture her birth. I was already booked but offered to be on standby for her, meaning if I am able to come, am not at someone else’s birth, and am not called away to anyone else’s birth during hers, I would photograph it for her just like any other client. She decided she wanted to go for it and well, things could not have worked out more perfectly. Because she booked me so quickly, I didn’t have time to actually meet her beforehand, but we did arrange to speak on the phone about her vision for her birth, the important moments she wanted photographed, as well as any concerns and questions she had. 2 hours after this phone call, I got the call from her husband Bay that Lindsay was in labor. I knew her first had come quickly, so I headed down into the city where they live, and within an hour and a half Penny came quietly and peacefully into the world.

I would call this birth very “Austin”. Friends and family were coming and going and Lindsay was plugged in to her Hypnobabies the whole time, unaffected by the hoopla. There was root beer and music and a very cute 6 year old brother anxiously awaiting the arrival of his baby sister. The whole vibe was just fantastic and I loved being there as Lindsay effortlessly breathed her baby down and out into the water. It was such an amazing thing to witness. And baby Penny, obviously affected by this calm environment, just opened her big brown eyes and quietly took in everything, and everyone, around her.

I’m a bit behind on my blogging, so this session actually occurred almost 4 weeks ago. I loved photographing this cute little family as they welcomed their newest addition, Clive. We got some really sweet shots, and Kati was pleased to discover that an herbal bath is a great way to calm a fussy baby! The trick is getting them into the water so their ears are covered. A midwife recently pointed this out to me: It reminds them of being in the womb! So you can imagine how comforting it is. And I just love herbal bath photos because baby always looks so serene and peaceful!

I had the privilege of photographing a sweet hospital birth last Thursday! Fleur and Joey welcomed their sweet surprise baby girl at 6:58pm! What an amazing moment it was to witness the surprise at this news! Although they didn’t know what they were having, both of them were inclined to think it would be a boy.:)
