Breastfeeding

frequently asked questions

Through my years as the founder of the Public Breastfeeding Awareness Project I learned that the breastfeeding years are not only beautiful and worthy of documentation but often difficult years as well. Many parents invest not only physically, but emotionally in making breastfeeding work for them. And that journey does not always start off blissfully. Breastfeeding photography is both empowering and a keepsake, for some, of one of their greatest achievements.

Within an hour of Austin.

Yes, all are welcome in front of my camera.

15 images in both color and black & white (30 total)

A totally respectable decision, and one that I would honor.

50% upfront and the balance upon completion of the session

This depends largely on the location of your session. If we are going to be outdoors in a park/garden setting then something long and flowy photographs very well. If at home, I suggest neutral clothing that is comfortable and allows you to breastfeed in various positions.

The first thing I do is navigate the home or space to determine the best lighting, Then I make suggestions for breastfeeding positions. I don’t do a lot of posing though. I prefer for the session to unfold organically as we chat and you feed your child.

Not at breastfeeding sessions.

This largely depends on the age of your nursling. An infant that will stay at the breast for long periods of time takes less time to photograph than a toddler who likes to graze.
