Newborn Photography helps parents remember the unique and fleeting first days of life with a new baby. It is easy to forget the precious parts of your parenting journey when you’re caught up in an endless cycle of rocking, feeding and changing your baby’s diapers.
During your newborn session with me, we will capture this transition into parenthood in a life-like fashion. No posing, no directing. Just you in your home navigating your first days together as a family. Newborn photography sessions take place between 3 and 10 days post partum. I will document how everyone connects with baby, but also the care and effort you and your partner invest in caring for them. So you can expect your session to be a lot like a normal day, only with me looking over your shoulder and capturing the sweet moments that come and go.
I also hope you will look back on them with a renewed appreciation for your role in your child’s life. New babies do best between 3 and 10 days old, particularly if you want to schedule a floral bath session. I am also happy to schedule sessions once your family is feeling more settled and well-adjusted to baby. Just know that babies’ temperaments and physical features change very quickly. So the expectations for your session will need to adjust accordingly. An older baby means more awake photos and possibly more time with Mom and breastfeeding. I love breastfeeding photography so that works well for me.
For some, a session between leaving the hospital and arriving home is the best fit. I call this a First Glimpse session. The First Glimpse is a popular choice for those who want to document some hospital memories, but not their entire birth.
